Like many of you, our little world at Vu Jewellers is closely tied to our online presence. It’s where we share the jewellery we’re creating, the stories behind each piece, and the special moments we get to be part of with our clients. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, our Instagram account was hacked.
It’s been a stressful time trying to recover, and sadly, we weren’t able to regain access to the original account. But – like any good jeweller knows – sometimes you take what’s broken and remake it into something even stronger.

✨ You can now find us on Instagram here: @vu_jewellers
We’d love for you to follow along again, help us spread the word, and continue building our lovely community. Every like, comment, and share truly helps us get back on our feet.
What We’ve Learned (and How You Can Stay Safe)
We don’t want anyone else to have to go through what we’ve experienced. Here are a few practical tips we’ve learned that may help protect your own accounts:
1. Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Make sure you have two-factor authentication (2FA) turned on. This adds an extra step when logging in and makes it much harder for hackers to gain access.
2. Be Wary of Suspicious Links
Hackers often gain access through phishing links sent in DMs or emails. If something looks unusual, even if it appears to be from a friend, don’t click. An if you've set up two factor authentication and get emails through to confirm your details, DON'T, go direct to the website and do it from there.
3. Use Strong, Unique Passwords
It’s tempting to reuse the same password everywhere, but that’s exactly what hackers rely on. Use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols – and avoid using your pet’s name or birthday.
4. Update Your Recovery Details
Make sure your email address and phone number are up to date in your account settings so you can recover access quickly if something goes wrong.
5. Report Suspicious Activity
If you see unusual posts or messages coming from someone you follow, reach out to them directly – their account may have been compromised. Not that either Meta or Instagram will be of any assistance whatsoever...but you can at least try!
A Big Thank You
We’ve been reminded once again just how important our community is. Thank you to everyone who has already refollowed, shared our posts, and helped us spread the word. Your support means the world to us.
If you haven’t yet, we’d love to see you over at our new home on Instagram: @vu_jewellers.
Here’s to moving forward, keeping each other safe online, and continuing to celebrate all things sparkly and beautiful – together. 💎
