Taylor Swift’s Engagement Ring: Vintage Romance Meets Modern Love

When global icons like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announce their engagement, the world takes notice—not only of the love story, but also of the jewellery that symbolises it. Her engagement ring has already captured hearts everywhere, and for us as jewellers, it’s a wonderful example of how design, craftsmanship, and meaning come together in a single piece.

Close-up of Taylor Swift’s new engagement ring: an 8-carat Old Mine Brilliant cut diamond set in warm yellow gold with delicate hand-engraving on the band. The vintage-inspired design reflects timeless romance and fine craftsmanship, similar to the bespoke rings created at Vu Jewellers in Queenstown.

The Design

Taylor Swift engagement ring centres on a breathtaking elongated cushion also known as an Old Mine cut diamond. This antique style of cutting dates back to the 1700s and 1800s, designed to sparkle in candlelight with its high crown and distinctive culet. It’s a romantic nod to the past, yet timeless enough to feel entirely modern on her hand today.

The diamond itself is estimated at around 8 carats, with F colour and VS1 clarity—an exceptional combination of size, quality, and beauty. Set in 18ct yellow gold, the ring features fine hand-engraving on the shoulders and delicate prongs that allow the stone to shine without distraction.

The Story Behind It - Taylor Swift's engagement ring

What makes this piece even more special is that Travis Kelce collaborated directly with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry in New York to design it. By working with a craft jeweller and vintage jewellery collector, he ensured the ring would carry not only value, but also meaning—an approach that resonates deeply with what we do at Vu Jewellers.

This is not a ring chosen from a showcase, but one created with thought, intention, and artistry. It’s estimated at US $550,000, but its true worth lies in the sentiment and story it represents.

Why It Inspires Us

Taylor’s engagement ring reflects a trend we see more and more: couples seeking pieces that feel personal, timeless, and thoughtfully crafted. Vintage-inspired designs, yellow gold settings, and a focus on hand-engraved detail are all design choices that echo the values of bespoke fine jewellery.

At Vu Jewellers, we specialise in creating engagement rings that tell your story—whether that’s through a carefully chosen diamond, a sapphire in a colour you adore, or gold sourced from local Otago rivers. Like Taylor and Travis, you too can have a ring that is truly yours, crafted with meaning and intention.
